The latest wireless study from Virginia-based Global Wireless Solutions (GWS) has crowned Bell as Canada’s best 5G network.

The study released on Tuesday says Bell’s 5G network has the fastest speeds versus competitors, plus ranks the highest nationally when it comes to gaming and video applications. Telus came second in results, followed by Rogers in third.

“We’re delighted that GWS has ranked Bell 5G as the best in Canada with the fastest speeds of any mobile provider,” said Claire Gillies, President of Bell Mobility, in an issued statement to iPhone in Canada. “Bell is continuing to expand the reach of the country’s best 5G and we’re on track to cover approximately 70% of the national population with by the end of this year.”

“GWS’ evaluation is based on competitive benchmark testing of Canada’s national mobile networks. Between May and October 2021, just over 425,000 tests were conducted across Canada to evaluate the mobile network performance of Bell, Rogers and Telus,” explains the GWS study.

“Among the major operators, Bell is ahead of the pack having not only the best 5G network but also the fastest. Fortunately, this is a highly competitive race which means all customers can expect continued improvements in performance, better overall service, and a more satisfying experience,” said Dr. Paul Carter, CEO of Global Wireless Solutions, in a statement.

Testing covered major cities and smaller towns, representing 65% of the Canadian population, using Rohde & Schwarz SmartBenchmarker test equipment, Samsung Galaxy mobile devices, and GWS’ MobiStat data evaluation and reporting platform.

This isn’t the first time Bell’s 5G network was recognized. A recent coast-to-coast study by PCMag concluded Bell’s 5G network was the best in Canada, beating rivals Telus and Rogers.
