The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has launched an online survey today “to better understand the needs, behaviours and habits of Canadians regarding their mobile wireless services.”

According to the Commission, data from the survey “will help determine whether further action is needed to ensure that the needs of Canadians are being met in the mobile wireless market.”

The CRTC is currently reviewing mobile wireless services in Canada, which started back in February of this year.

“Canadians are relying more on wireless services than ever before. It is important that we hear from as many Canadians as possible regarding their experiences with their wireless services. The results from the online survey will contribute to determine how best to ensure Canada’s mobile wireless market provides robust competition, innovative services and better prices for all consumers,” said Ian Scott, Chairperson and CEO of the CRTC, in a press release.

The online survey is being conducted by independent research firm, Phoenix Strategic Perspectives, and says it should take “no more than 5 minutes to complete, and your responses will be treated in confidence.”

Those interested in participating in the survey have until December 31, 2019, midnight Pacific Standard Time to complete the survey.

The CRTC is set to hold a public hearing starting on February 18, 2020. On the table is whether mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) should have access to the networks of Rogers, Telus and Bell, “until they can establish themselves in the market.”
