Rogers/Fido 6GB Data Plan Extended to October 5th

We just got an email from Rogers that they have extended their 6GB/$30 “promotional” data plan past the September 30th expiration date. You can now order this plan all the way till October 5th.

There is also an update on iPhone 4 HUP news too. Read here for more info:

When Rogers/Fido launched the iPhone 4 on July 30, we announced special offers for our new and existing customers. Since then, we have activated a significant number of devices with 80 per cent having gone to our existing customers. These special offers were scheduled to expire on Sept. 30, but we have some good news to share.

First, we are extending the 6GB/$30 promotion until Oct. 5. Second, we are extending one component of our early Hardware Upgrade offer through the end of the year. Any customer who activated or upgraded an earlier version of the iPhone with Rogers/Fido on a term contract on or before December 31, 2008 will be continue to be eligible for at least $480 off the no-term device price when they upgrade to an iPhone 4. They can pick up an iPhone 4 16GB/32GB for $159/$269 on a new 3-year voice and data plan.

While other components of our special iPhone 4 early HUP offer expire today, Rogers and Fido customers can continue to take advantage of our standard hardware upgrade savings. Fido customers can also add their Fido dollars to their Hardware Upgrade for additional savings.

With iPhone 4 stocks increasingly on the rise, this will give people more time to jump on an iPhone 4 + the 6GB data plan. With Netflix Canada now launched, this plan is definitely worth it.

Thanks for the email, Miranda!

The extension of the offer is only as good as their ability to get devices into the hands of people who want them. So far, they are failing in that regard by and large.

How is supply Rogers fault? They don’t manufacture the devices. Delivery to stores is directly from Apple.

Not really that big of an extension…. 5 days!

Well I guess early adopters of the Torch might like it. But at least the hardware upgrade promo is being extended =)

It took me 2 straight months of calling 4 different stores 5 days a week. They told me that they would get my number and call me when they got one in for Rogers….I think not because I called in a couple days ago and what do you know…..they got one in at Future Shop. Apple straight out employees people that its always a first come first serve type of basis with customers. And the reason for Apple leaving Canada the last resort for the shortage of the new phone is cause……………………………….how cheap the carriers are selling them for. Apple is making next to nothing by selling the phones to Canada phone carriers.

Right. Apple makes a ton of money from selling it direct. There have been lots of write ups about the cost to make the iPhone 4 vs what Apple is selling it for unlocked.

and even at $159… they are still making money off of that too. Just not as much as $659 😛

Apple sells the iphone at full price or close to it to the carriers… it’s the carriers who subsidizes the price to lock you into a 3 year contract and data… Apple is making tons of money… upon reading your post again… it actually makes no sense…and it doesn’t look like English is your second language…

I was able to get the 6gb data plan for $25!

My friend got it for that price. I called Rogers and told them I wanted the same pricing …and they did it for me too!

Call Rogers and ask them for that.

The only reason why they extended the plan, is because Apple is releasing Iphone 5 on the 5th, so they want to sell as many of their phones as possible before the release.
