Rogers 6GB Data Plan to Expire on February 6th
If you are contemplating signing up with Rogers, the coveted 6GB/$30 data plan is set to expire on Monday, February 6th, 2012.
The 6GB data plan was reintroduced last August for a ‘limited time’, then made its return in October with alongside a $70 voice and data plan Telus and Bell similarly offered. The plan was extended in November and offered to LTE customers.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, the 6GB plan may ‘expire’, but it’ll always return like salmon to a river to spawn (wasn’t that beautiful?).

This is a solid plan, although most people I bet don’t even come close to the 6GB limit. Great for tethering though. Thanks, Robbers.
I know I don’t come anywhere near 6 GB on my iPhone, but for $5 more than I was paying for 512 MB and the acquisition of a wi-fi only iPad (allowing me to use the Personal Hotspot, if required) it seemed a worthwhile ‘investment’.
Screw 6GB I want unlimited data!
I used to have unlimited data for $25 with Telus before when I was using HTC Touch. They did not allow me to carry it over when I renewed the contract and get iPhone 4 so I had to choose the 6GB for $30. Darn.
Sucks man, you could’ve went the no contract route and switch over if telus would’ve let you.
Well, the reason they gave was that iPhone 4 is running on new wireless network HSPA and my old data plan was only suitable for the old network. Since I have a pretty good loyalty plan from Telus and I don’t believe Rogers will offer me the same plan with unlimited data plan I did not even bother to call Rogers. 6GB is more than I need for my day to day use. My highest volume in the past 1 and half years is 2.5GB on 3G and 6GB on WiFi. I normally stay around 1GB monthly usage including tethering.
Salmon to spawn, nice.
It is pretty much the best bang got the buck. Only other options being 512MB for $25 and 1GB for $30. I’ll take 6GB for 30 thanks. And FYI. Just signed up the wife yesterday at a store and they weren’t going to give it too me until I said “deal breaker”! Then she had to call to get approval. What a mess.
Way to stick to your guns. The wife must be proud.
Just so long as one can grandfather it in to Plan renewals in the future (assuming nothing better is released. But seriously, with Rogers?), I’m okay with that
im wondering how i should go about asking for this deal at a rogers store though.. i mean, i see no proof of the deal and knowing rogers if i go in and ask for it they’ll play dumb and pretend the promo does not exist.
any guidance and how i should go about asking for it?
What!!?? no~~~~~ wait….you know what? I DON’T CARE!!!!! SCREW the BIG 3
unlimited for the WIND!!!
Anyone knows if this is also true for Fido? I’m assuming it is, but just to be certain here…
I don’t believe Fido publicly launched a 6GB data plan this year (2011).
