Rogers Mastercard Credit Cards to Support Apple Pay, Android Mobile Wallets Soon

If you have a Mastercard credit card from Rogers, you’ll soon see support for Apple Pay and other Android mobile wallets, iPhone in Canada has learned.

Currently, Rogers and Fido credit cards are available through Rogers Bank, a subsidiary of the company. For the longest time, customers have been asking for mobile wallet support, such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay, to enable mobile payments without using a physical credit card.

It appears the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for contactless payments may be accelerating the push for mobile wallet support.

Earlier this week, Rogers launched two credit cards under its chatr brand, while back in early June its flagship Rogers Mastercard saw downgrades on cash back rewards for purchases made in foreign currencies and other local purchases.

There’s no exact timeframe on the mobile wallet launch for Rogers and Fido Mastercard credit cards, but it’s in the works and coming soon.
