Rogers Increasing Wireless Plans by $5 for Some Customers, Says Bill Notice
Rogers recently started notifying some customers on their bill statements that their wireless plans were set to increase.
According to iPhone in Canada reader Rob, his bill statement dated March 31, 2022, included a section titled, “Your Wireless Plan Rate is Increasing.”
Rob’s current plan is a $75/20GB plan, now set to increase to $80 per month. His account has three total lines.
As for the explanation of the price increase? Rogers says, “to continue delivering wireless experiences that make more possible, we regularly review and adjust our plans. While we try to minimize the impact on our customers, the monthly service fee for your wireless plan shown on this bill will increase by $5 (plus taxes) starting on the date of your first bill after April 4, 2022.”
Rogers adds, “rest assured, your plan continues to offer excellent value on Canada’s Largest and Most Reliable 5G Network,” then links to an Umlaut 5G coverage benchmarking study.
“The rest of your Rogers wireless service will remain the same. This change is made in accordance with the CRTC Wireless Code,” says Rogers. You can read the full bill statement increase memo below:

I have a legacy plan and just noticed this on my invoice.
This is such bullshit that CRTC accept those kind of arbitrary changes.
Time to shop somewhere else.
They have a new CFO… This really shouldn’t have been a shock to anyone, he will most likely raise prices for the near term to justify his bonus.
so i signed up for rogers in 2007 and its risen by $40 by then, all those 5 dollar increases lmfao
Well it’s a good opportunity to shop around and make sure this is still the right carrier for you at $80.
Still annoying though, only in markets like ours do carriers freely raise prices regularly without any consequences.
Didn’t the PM promise that our rates would go down 25%?
