Rogers Officially Launches ‘suretap’ Mobile Wallet

Rogers today has launched its suretap mobile wallet, which will allow customers to add a Rogers prepaid MasterCard to their compatible device for making payments on their smartphone.

Gift cards from retailers such as Swiss Chalet, Milestones Grill and Bar, Montana’s Cookhouse, Harvey’s, Kelsey’s, Indigo, Earls Restaurants, Ardene, and Spafinder Wellness 365 can also be added suretap, allowing for multiple forms of payment at contactless payment terminals (i.e. MasterCard PayPass or VISA payWave). Future features will allow the storage of loyalty cards, coupons and ID cards.

“Our customers are inseparable from their smartphones, and we know they are ready and want to use them to make payments. With the suretap wallet, their smartphones and wallets will now be one and the same,” said Jeppe Dorff, Vice-President, Transaction Services, Rogers Communications. “Now thousands of our customers across the country can make simple, secure and fast payments using their smartphones instead of fumbling through their wallets to find their payment cards.”

Suretap will work with select Android and BB10 smartphones that include NFC. The lack of the latter means no iPhone support.

Rogers first detailed suretap last November as a quick and easy way for customers to make transactions up to $50 on the go. Let us know if you’re going to be giving suretap a try.
