Some Public Mobile Customers Getting ‘Welcome to Koodo’ Texts by Accident

Telus prepaid brand, Public Mobile, told customers on Tuesday their technical team is actively fixing ongoing issues for some customers.

Specifically, some Public Mobile customers have been receiving “welcome to Koodo” SMS messages when activating services, despite being a customer of the prepaid brand. Koodo is a sub-brand of parent company Telus. The text message should read Public Mobile instead of Koodo.

Another issue for some Public Mobile customers is the fact their credit card statements are showing charges from Koodo, instead of Public Mobile. “It’s our understanding that the issue occurs on the first payment cycle and changes to “Public Mobile” on subsequent statements to follow,” said the prepaid carrier.

Public Mobile says these issues are only “cosmetic” in nature, and their team is “actively working on a solution.”
