TELUS Joins CIBC in Launching New Visa Rewards Credit Card

TELUS and CIBC today have announced today the launch of the CIBC TELUS Rewards Visa card, which is part of the mobile carrier’s rewards program for its customers. Purchases earn points which can be redeemed towards TELUS products and services such as smartphones, tablets, charitable donations, travel passes and prepaid cards.

Drazen Lalovic, Vice President, Emerging Markets and Capital Planning, TELUS, said in a statement “Not only does this program bring customers more value for their everyday spending, it also gives them a new way to save on their next TELUS purchase, whether they’re upgrading their device, activating a tablet, buying a new wireless accessory, donating to a charity or more.”

Here are the key features of the card:

  • Earn one point for every dollar spent using the rewards card
  • Earn 1.5 points on all rewards card purchases at grocery and gas retailers
  • Earn 1.5 points on TELUS purchases made on the rewards card – paying their monthly bill, purchasing accessories or mobile devices, etc.
  • Earn additional points by signing up for pre-authorized payments and e-bill, or adding services to their account including Optik TV or adding additional subscribers
  • Enjoy no annual fee

In other words, 500 TELUS points earned is worth $5. The minimum annual household income to apply is $15,000 or $0 if you’re currently a post-secondary student. The annual interest rate on purchases is 19.99% and on cash is 22.99%.
