Griffin iPhone Wave Case Review–CONTEST GIVEAWAY
A lot of people have been talking about cases from Griffin lately. Today we’re going to take a look at their Wave case, an interlocking polycarbonate case for the first generation iPhone. After testing this out on my first gen iPhone, I have to say it is a very interesting and well made product. Let’s get on with the details!
What’s Included in the Box?
Griffin steps it up and includes some little extras with the Wave case. Inside you will find:
- Detailed setup instructions
- Griffin branded cleaning cloth
- Screen protector for your iPhone
Upon opening the package, I found the quality of the polycarbonate case to be well constructed. Not only that the stylish interlocking aspect of the design was pretty neat. The best part about the case is that the matte finish does not hide the sexiness of the iPhone’s design, unlike silicone cases.

I installed the Wave case with my iPhone that already had the invisibleSHIELD installed. It was a VERY tight fit and I would recommend your iPhone being naked (insert Austin Powers voice OH BEHAVE!) for the install. As you can see from the pictures, everything fit but it wasn’t perfect!
You can read more about the Griffin Wave case here. At a cost of $24.99US, it’s about average but definitely a step up from a silicone case. I would buy this if I didn’t have my invisibleSHIELD. It protects your iPhone but it doesn’t hide the sexiness!

Glad to hear it’s a good case since I just ordered one yesterday.
I’ve dropped my phone a few times with no bad results! I know my luck will run out and I have NO protection on my poor phone. It deserves better. This case would help preserve my phone and should help me keep a better grip on it.

When my girlfriend found out how much I spent on the new iphone she threw my first generation iphone at me. I have not told her yet that I signed my life away for three years at $100.00 a month. When she hears this, I am sure to get my old iphone thrown at me again. I know it is inevitable that my old iphone will be launched at my head very shorly, a Griffin wave case would be very nice to ensure that my iphone is safe.

I dropped my last phone (Treo 650) all the time and it’s what probably caused it to bite the dust (stopped charging my battery). So this case is definatelt going to be needed if I want this phone to last more than six months. 🙂
It looks like a great case, and I’m suffering from depression because of a lack of an iPhone. I’ve been calling everyday but no luck. Stopped into a place today on a lark and two people were buying iPhones. But no more were there to be had. Considering they’re not taking names for a waiting list, I missed it by mere minutes.

I once owned a Treo 750 but had to give it up once I had dropped it so many times that I had to remove the battery to hang up from a phone call. I then bought a Motorola Razr v3t and actually threw it across the street during an overzealous (stylish?) removal from my backpack. The phone survived that ordeal but just barely. It lived another month before I dropped it, while riding my bike, and ran it over with my own back tire. I clearly need a good case for my iPhone 3g. A precision piece of machinery like this should not be left unprotected in my possession. So basically – I deserve this case because I am a spaz.

I am a klutz. I’m always dropping things. When I bought my last PDA (Toshiba e740) I dropped it and cracked the screen as I was unpacking the box. I love my iPhone but I’m terrified of dropping it. I need this case. Pleeeeezzzzzeeeeeee.
I just bought one for my iphone 3g, as I’m waiting for my invisible shield, and so far it’s been pretty good. I would recommend this case to anyone who has an iphone. Personally I like the “neked” feel of the phone, so once my invisible shield comes in, it’s off with case!

Well, I keep on traveling, always wearing a tie, and I need to charge my iPhone twice a day as I use it, so it’s pretty dangerous for its health to use it as much completely naked. It would be great to have a case, but I’m really young, and an iPhone /month is so expensive I need to make budget of everything, so winning a case would be painless…
And I would just want to thank the iPhoneInCanada.ca team for all your posts, I keep on reading you every day, with your RSS feed on my iPhone, and I passed more than an hour on your site each day for the whole month before it got released in Canada, searching for tips and good plans. Just got my first iphone…. and its not protected!
I live in Newfoundland… we have nothing here to buy! There was only one store in Newfoundland selling the iphone!! So you can imagine how hard it is to actually get a case here!
I used to have a blackberry 8200 (yeah its old don’t make fun of me) and I was walking and some stupid person who wasn’t looking almost ran me over, and I had the right to walk. Well long story short, I didn’t get hurt but my poor blackberry fell and got scratched. My new Iphone 3G is my precious (as gollum would say) and I would cry if anything happened to it. I really need a case please, I would hate for anything to happen….again.
….cause 4 kids a dog and two iPhone 3g’s later I cant afford the case.
Shoot, I need this Wave because all I’ve got going for me is the clear plastic screen cover that comes with the iPhone. And to keep it from sliding out of my pocket I had to throw it in the pouch that my 5G iPod came in! Not only that, who knows when Zagg will actually ship my Invisibleshield I preordered?
Hopefully I’ll be getting a first gen iPhone very soon and I will need a GREAT case to protect it from my clumsiness. And of course, to enjoy the sexiness! My iPod touch has a gross case with icky scratches and I would love to flaunt the new Griffin wave on my “new” iPhone. Cuz there WILL be flaunting!!! 😀
I need one because I have no protection for the first gen iPhone. I purchased a used iPhone. Screen is perfect, but on the sides, there are some scratches. With this wave case it would hide the imperfection. I am not tented to buy any protection, but if I get this one for free and I like it, I will think about getting more gears for my iphone.

I need this case because I’ll be giving my first gen iPhone to my sister and definitely want a case on it because she won’t be keeping it and I don’t want it back in 1,000 pieces when she accidentally drops it (which WILL happen). Thinking of throwing an invisible shield on the thing too…
I need one because I am going to go bald… I’ve dropped my iPhone four times now and each time I look at the damage, I end up ripping my hair out!! So now, I want to regrow my hair, and not have to rip out a handful each time I look at the damage, because if I had the Wave case, only that would be damaged!!
I have a Capsule case from Switcheasy on my first gen iPhone.
And after three or four drops and having as many near heart attacks, the Capsule case as well as the Vision clip I bought with it are already showing signs of weakening.
The case did the job, and my iPhone is still like new but I don’t think the case can take many more drops.
The Wave case seems like a good option and having a good case will be easier on my heart!
Btw, is there a belt clip for that case?
When I finally put my hands on a 3G, it will need protection.

Why do I need this case….Heres my story.. 100% true swear to god
I was just walking down the street with my good friend IPHONE, you know we were just looking fine cruising the babes. But IPHONE got hungry so we went into a local gas station to buy some some chips. Upon exiting the gas station IPHONE stopped dead, jaw agape, he looked like he had just been hit by a semi truck. So i turn to him and ask “Dude whats the matter u fry ur motherboard or something” half jokingly. All I hear him say is “Thats the most beautiful girl ive ever seen”, thats when i noticed he was staring at a sleek, curvy, pink motorola razor. Next thing you know he’s over there chatting her up and everything seems to be going fine until i hear “That’s my girlfriend u son of a B****”. I turn to see the biggest, ugliest piece thing to ever be put on this earth running out of the repair shop with a baseball bat……yes i am talking about the Nokia N95!!!! Before you know it IPHONE was on the ground; by the time i got across the street N95 was gone and IPHONE was in rough shape, he had a shattered screen, broken camera and a deformed headphone jack. He had to spend 4 weeks in the hospital and undergo serious re constructive surgery. I felt like it was my fault and VOWED to never let him be hurt again.
Free case? Better than free beer! of course 🙂
