According to Japanese site Mac Otakara, Apple is reportedly planning to launch a 7th generation iPad soon.

The site says information received from an unnamed supplier indicates Apple is set to release an update to the entry iPad, which currently has a 9.7-inch display. The refresh does not appear to be cosmetic, but rather internal, as sources say Touch ID and the 3.5mm headphone jack will remain.

Mac Otakara says one supplier claims the refresh will see the screen increase from 9.7-inch to 10-inches, but previous reports have indicated the display size will remain the same. Retaining the same design would allow Apple to maintain existing price points, hopefully.

Apple is rumoured to release an updated iPad mini 5 sometime this year, and a refreshed iPad could possibly debut alongside the smaller tablet.

Apple Canada currently sells the current 9.7-inch iPad starting at $429, which supports Apple Pencil. This model was released back in the spring of 2018.
