Apple to Launch New iPads ‘as Early as April’, Says Bloomberg

We have new information on Apple’s iPad refresh plans, and they come from none other than reporter Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

According to unnamed sources, Apple plans to debut new iPad and iPad Pro models “as early as April”, says the report.

As for the iPad Pro lineup, faster processors and improved cameras are coming, say sources, with 11 and 12.9-inch screens and designs remaining the same.

“The devices will have an updated processor that is on par with the faster M1 chip in the latest MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini,” reports Gurman, noting the new processors would be classified as A14X.

The larger iPad Pro model would possibly have a Mini-LED display, offering brighter and better contrast ratios. The new iPad Pro models were using a Thunderbolt connector in testing.

Apple saw $8.4 billion in revenue from the iPad in its holiday quarter for 2020, as sales surged due to people working from home due to COVID-19.

Last year, Apple refreshed its iPad Pro lineup to bring faster processors, Magic Keyboard with Trackpad and also a lidar scanner.

As for the regular iPad, aimed at education, it will have a “thinner and lighter design later this year,” says Bloomberg. Also coming is an iPad mini with a larger display behind 7.9-inches.
