Apple’s 12.9-Inch ‘iPad Pro’ Said to Launch in Mid-November [Rumour]

How can we start a Monday morning without an iPad rumour? Asian publication Digitimes reports the rumoured 12.9-inch iPad pro is set to launch in mid-November:

Apple’s upstream supply chain is expected to start supplying components for the upcoming 12.9-inch iPad in late-September and the device is expected to become available in the market after mid-November

Sources claim Apple is “rather cautious” about placing orders and initial shipments are said to be lower than expectations of analysts. The larger iPad will be manufactured by Foxconn.

As larger smartphone ‘phablets’ gain popularity, they continue to drive down demand for tablets such as the iPad, which at this point needs some new ‘wow’ features to lure customers to upgrade more frequently or consider purchasing their first.

Back in March, the WSJ reported the ‘iPad Pro’ could have USB 3.0 connectivity and feature faster charging times, while displays would utilize Oxide technology. Bloomberg similarly reported ‘iPad Pro’ production would start in September, while other rumours claim the tablet could come with a stylus (as Steve Jobs would say, “yuck!”).
