Star Touch for iPad by Toronto Star Gets Redesign in 2.0 Update

The Star Touch iPad app has been updated to version 2.0, which comes with a “major redesign”, said to enhance navigation of the news app on older Apple tablets (iPad 2/3/4; iPad mini and iPad mini 2), to make graphics and transitions load quicker.

What’s New in Version 2.0.0
Major redesign of the application to enhance the navigation experience of daily editions on earlier model iPads. Screen refresh will be quicker and transitions from one screen to another more fluid, particularly on iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad4, iPad mini and iPad mini 2 tablets.

Last month, Star Touch announced their app had surpassed 200,000 downloads, averaging 45,000 users sessions on weekdays and 50,000 on weekends.

Star Touch launched last September, based on the same technology used by Quebec’s La Press+ iPad app, in an effort to spark the newspaper’s transition to digital, with an investment of $14 million.

In January, the Toronto Star announced its Vaughan printing plant will close, affecting 285 full time and part time jobs.
