The Loop confirms Apple is set to hold an event on October 23rd, most likely to reveal the iPad mini:
Apple on Tuesday announced a special event to be held on October 23, 2012 in San Jose. The event is scheduled to take place at 10:00 am PT.
Unlike other recent events that have been held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Apple will hold this event at the California Theatre in San Jose .
AllThingsD also confirms the event. They were the ones to earlier report the rumoured October 23rd event date. This location appears to be a new one for Apple.
The invitation is pictured above, which notes “We’ve got a little more to show you.” That part about the ‘little’ could hint at a the mini iPad. I see a smaller iPad hiding in the colours–do you?

I’m most looking forward to iTunes 11! I’m guessing if it’s not released by then they’ll be releasing it the day of the event.

Apple has said that they will be releasing their iTunes 11 in October, so this would be the perfect time to release it, during the event. Apple is typical for releasing software during (or shortly after, like an hour or so) some of their events.
As per your comment, the same could be said about anything else, cuz the invitation doesn’t necessarily lean towards anything, except for the colours and the “little” in the slogan.

Oct. 23 – iPad Junior, iPad Small, iPad Nano, iPad Resized…umm….
I’m thinking i”P” something (everything starts with a “P” in this category), but I suspect not iPad [whatever]. That’s my $2 bet, anyway. I don’t have any actual intelligent guesses as to what though. We shall see. Maybe iPocket??? Naaaa.
In a way, I think all these unofficial leaks have ruined the ‘surprise element’ that Apple used to have. They used to play on it so well with witty and clever phrases that hint at what they are going to reveal at their next keynote/product intro. Now, they might as well just say – “Oct 23rd, 2012 – We are announcing the iPad Mini. Tell me you didn’t know this already”.
On a side note, I am really glad to see that Apple is re-introducing colors into more of their products. I hope the iPad Mini comes in different colors in the line of the iPod Touch 5th Gen.
I’m hoping all iTunes content will get an upgrade to “Mastered”
