Apple has introduced an extra service to help customers track orders made in Canada and the US. As noted by Apple Bitch, the change appears to have been introduced after the Apple Store online went down last night.
Apple’s Shipping and Delivery page notes the following under Text Notifications:
In addition to email notifications, you can request text message updates in Checkout.
What to Expect
Once your order ships we’ll send you a text message. The text message will include a link to online Order Status. Texts are sent between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. in your time zone.
How to turn off text notifications
If you want to stop text notifications, simply reply STOP to the text message.
This text service is a great addition on top of the normal email notification for those eagerly awaiting real-time notifications of their order status, like for example if you ordered a maxed out spec Retina MacBook Pro. Do also note the text service has built in ‘Do Not Disturb’ hours so you don’t get messages in the middle of the night.
