Apple Releases iOS 4.1 Beta 2 to Developers

Apple today has released another version of iOS 4 to developers. iOS 4.1 Beta 2 has the following changes:

The SDK is build 10M2305a and the firmware is build 8B5091b. There are five distinct downloads, one each for the iPhone 4/3GS/3G and iPod Touch 2G/3G.

This latest build might concentrate on fixing the proximity sensor issue with the iPhone 4, which was not turning off/on properly while people were handling calls.

As developers get a hold of this we’ll hear more about changes coming. The first beta of iOS 4.1 included the following changes:

● Signal Bars fixed and taller
● New Baseband (02.07.01)
● Game Center is back with new look (see screenshot)
● Camera Switch and Flash buttons reposition in landscape mode (see screenshot)
● You can now choose to add Favorite as voice or FaceTime.
● Spell Check can be turned off in Settings
● FaceTime and Game Center Parental Controls
● Full Bluetooth AVRCP Support

I don't know the reason, Folks, but since the last weekend, I had a bizarre impression. I was not too surprised by the delay of JB 3GS new bootrom, ios4. I understood – and I am not en expert – that the Dev Team got a problem, like they explained in their blog. But my thought was that Apple succedded to make impossible the safe jailbreaking – don't know how, because I am not a programme, just a regular consumer – And this delay is going to be longer than we think. But I just hope to be wrong all the way

if you don't travel too much or too often, unlocking doesn't mean a lot compare to jailbreaking.

jailbreaking certainly gives u more freedom and great features that apple doesn't offer due to its mammonism.

Hey, Gary and EX I just wanted to ask do you guys know the approximate number of iPhone 4's in Rogers stores or bell stores?

Ex

Depends on the size and market of the store.
usually 10-100 devices.

Actually.. there are vids out there of the jailbreak fully working on an iphone 4, they showed it running cydia, and saurik was the one doing the interview showing it off.

My theory is that they held off until the 4.1 update.. because otherwise apple would have just closed the loop with that update and they would need to start all over again. Now they are going to wait until this update is official (perhaps a few weeks) and then I think they will release the jailbreak.

Just wait and see.. the pirate community is invincible. Mostly anyway.

That is the problem actualy, J-money. We ear and read … until the update will be officiel. There will always have update. I don't blam Dev Team to wait a perfect software, but these updates seems to change a lot of things each now. And, guess what, what do we read at the beginning of this article … New Baseband (02.07.01) … again ! Users are correct to complaint about the delays and Dev Team are correct also to wait until theur product is perfect. This seem to be kind of circle that nobody know the way to get out of it. Maybe I am too pessimist here, but look the reality what's happedning since three weeks.

AVRCP will be a nice feature. Long overdue, really.

Hey Guys,
I did not know where to post for my problem. I am taking my chance and hoping that some good guy will be able to help me out here. My phone all of a sudden asked me to connect to Itunes and after that itunes keep showing me error no. 1002. I searched for this error over the internet but could not find any solution. Phone is just out of warranty now and has never been jailbroken. I will really appreciate for your help

Put in Recovery mode then restore

Well basically, my belief is that they knew of the upcoming 4.1 (possible due to proximity sensor) and they held off until it is implemented. Now, after it is updated to 4.1, I think they will release the jailbreak as 4.2 would be AT LEAST a month away, although I would guess it would be monthS away. With a capital S. Now this cycle of jailbreak and update has been going on for awhile, and what people usually do is wait for a new update to get jailbroken. Your iPhone will run totally fine without the newest update, and I would rather have a jailbroke iphone and wait an extra few weeks to update my iOS, rather than have it updated for minimal changes while taking away all the extra goodies of a jailbreak.

Again, wait and see, we will see it soon.

Over and out.

4.1 seems to have increased the speed of my phone it seems. I love the full Bluetooth support, something that finally makes my iPhone experience 100% complete. I'm loving it 😉

Looking to get a new phone ASAP ~ was waiting for new iphone 4 – is it worth it or should a guy pick up the 3Gs?

Also, what are the pros and cons of getting the 3Gs or the 4 jailbroken??

If your going to buy one, I would get the iPhone4.

4 has more features and speed over 3Gs. It's basically buying last
years computer model. For just a couple extra bucks you get top of the
line. 4 has better battery, camera flash, faster processor, better
cam, better everything. 3GS is very good too, but a little less in all
areas compared to 4

This is sort of off topic, but will Apple start to sell different color bumpers again? I got my invisible shield in the mail today for front and back and would like to put a green bumper on the white iPhone I will purchase.

Im very sure they will. Might take some time due to the free case thing going on though.
Dont quote me on this though, im just taking a shot in the dark based on my opinion.

Ahh! Spread the word around, wouldnt it be the best gift to have apple send you one with the color you wanted with a little Apple bow on it for Jobs himself lol

For Protection yes, its one of the leading brands. I personally dont like it all that much because the bulkiness throws it for me. but for quality its good.

Hey Guys, this is off topic but just to let you know what's running on my mind…It's insane that up to this day, there is no update on apple canada website. Is this another marketing ploy to let people line up in all stores and show to the world that indeed iPhone 4 is still the most sought after smartphone in the market even with all the issues around? What do you think? Long lines means publicity?

hmmm. interesting. I work for an authorised reseller and we have them in our systems….. So what you're saying is total …. since we can't put them in the system without scanning each serial #.

Seriously, apple doesnt confirm that a new product will be available in 17 different countries on a specified date, and then say “Nevermind” 2 days before the release. My telus contact told me he already has several in stock and is jsut waiting till the 30th.

Agreed. The otterbox is a very very good case, it's only downside is the bulk of it, but if you want/need the protection, there's nothing beating it.

Well hate to say it but you are wrong. Computers are limited to the knowledge of their users. So basically it’s 10 Apple software engineers vs. Millions of computer savvy hackers. It’s impossible to completely make the phone unjailbreakable. Plus there is a video of a jailbroken iPhone 4 on YouTube. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?xl=xl_blazer&v=buF8_T9gRIU sorry for the link, I was watching it on YouTube mobile (thanks again Gary for the article on YouTube mobile).
