The iPhone rumor mill is in full steam at the moment! According to our friends from Touch Podium, the iPhone release date in Canada was “leaked” by a sales associate from Future Shop. The following conversation occured during the checkout process:
“Hey, do you have any idea if you guys will be getting the iPhone, and if so, when?” His reply, which, by the way, was very unexpected, went something like this, “Yeah, we’ll be getting the iPhone sometime in September.” Of course, being as disappointed as I was to hear such ruckus, I then asked, “Wow, really? Do you know when Rogers will be getting it?” He stated, “We’ll be getting it as soon as Rogers does, so most likely in September as well.”
This could be some interesting news as to when the iPhone will be released in Canada, but I don’t think a Future Shop associate would be the bearer of such important news. The best thing we can do is wait for the announcements at the WWDC conference in June. The iPhone could possibly be announced in June, but won’t be available in stores until September. Since Rogers is not saying a lot about release dates rest assured a big announcement is coming. Nonetheless, this is some interesting news for all you iPhone-coming-to-Canada-rumor junkies!

I doubt futureshop will carry it. Best buy doesn’t carry it in the states.

However, let it be known that we at Touch Podium also posted a following story which states that I had a conversation with a ROGERS Associate, whom has also stated a “Quarter 3, 2008” release, which would also mean sometime between the months of July and September. If it were to be September, the Future Shop associate was also correct on his statement.
Just thought I’d share the fact that two separate associates from two separate corporations have told me basically the same information.
Makes the whole thing seem more realistic, to say the lease.

I’m with Tyler on this one. Only AT&T and the Apple Store are the only places to buy and iPhone in the states. This has been the rule everywhere else, with the only exception being the UK. Futureshop would love to get the iPhone, but I don’t think its going to happen – not with an Apple Store in the three major cities in Canada, anyway.
does bestbuy sell att products in teh states? not ot my knowledge, however, fs carries rogers devices/booth here, so when rogers starts to sell it, i wouldnt be suprised if futureshop gets it.
Future Shop sells Rogers handsets so it would be weird if the iPhone was only exclusive to apple stores. Also FS is an authorized Apple retailer so I wouldn’t be surprised if they would carry the next gen iPhone. We’ll have to wait and see!
well,,,i came to know that iphone is coming this summer..but i want to know the prices it might cost,,,with the contract or without contract…do you have any idea about it??
I phoned up Rogers to see how much it is for me to upgrade to a n95. Afterwards, I asked the when the iphone would be here and he said, “3Q, so that would be around august.”

From Futureshop website, it looks like they’re at the moment carrying the 3G Iphone with the 16GB @ $749.99?? I am guessing it’s a no contract Iphone??
Whoa, that is weird! Good find! Looks like no contract…will have to do some investigating!
It’s really crazy that people still want iphone 4 while they know the problem with the atenna is really serious
