iPhone 4 Testing on T-Mobile USA; AWS iPhone For Canada Too?

BGR got their hands on an iPhone 4 currently being test on T-Mobile’s 3G AWS network:

…you’re looking at photos of an iPhone prototype with T-Mobile USA 3G bands. The actual internal model is N94, and if you remember, the Verizon model is N92 while the standard GSM variant is N90. We have verified that the phone itself is running a test version of Apple’s iOS, much like the one we saw in those videos from Vietnam, and it includes internal Apple test apps like Radar and Apple’s employee directory app.

Also interesting to note is this test iPhone 4 sports the A5 chip (codename N94), and is similar to the rumoured units developers have gotten access to for testing.

AT&T has been in talks to acquire T-Mobile for $39 billion, and if the deal completes the iPhone heading towards T-Mobile would be inevitable. An AWS-band capable iPhone would also mean great news for other companies such as Wind Mobility, Mobilicity, and Public Mobile. With aggressive pricing and expansion, adding an iPhone to their line up would surely increase subscribers for these entrants and truly increase competition.

The 1700 and 2100 MHz bands make up the AWS spectrum, and if rumours of a world-capable iPhone 5 come into fruition, carriers such as Wind, Mobilicity, Public Mobile and Videotron would salivate at the possibility of getting the next iPhone.

Would you welcome the iPhone coming to these new entrants? Apple could make it happen.
