Remember when Canada did not have the iPhone? The only way to get your hands on an iPhone was to buy one from the USA and bring it back to unlock. Jailbreaking and unlocking during those days were a lot harder than it was compared to today.
Anyways, in recent news, Etisalat in the United Arab Emirates recently announced that they would finally be selling the iPhone 3G in the region. What’s so interesting about this?
Well, Business 24-7 recently reported the following in their online news article that has pumped the next-gen iPhone rumor-mill into overtime:
The latest 3G model will become available on February 15 according to Dow Jones, and etisalat will be targeting private and business users. Both post-paid and prepaid subscribers will be able to use the product and voice, data and SMS services will be available. And the next version of the device, which is due out in June, will be launched in the UAE at the same time.
Unless there was some sort of error in the part of the author’s composition of the article, let’s just assume the cat is out of the bag–the next generation iPhone 3G is coming in June!
However, we all know how tight-lipped Apple is when it comes to their product launches. Just think back to MacWorld and how we failed to see an update to the iMac line up and other product updates.
If the next generation iPhone were to be released this June, I can only begin to see the sorrow on faces of Canadians that bought the iPhone 3G and signed on for a 3 year contract with Rogers–oh wait, that’s ME! Doh!
So what do you think? iPhone 4G coming out this summer? Don’t worry Apple, my wallet is ready and waiting. LOL!

I really wonder what Apple has in store for us. I also read a report about video conferencing coming to the iPhone. That’ll be interesting since the camera is on the other side! If there is a new iPhone, will iphone fan be getting it?
I have been seeing many pictures released about the new iPhone, there just to good to be true and need to see the real deal in June to believe 😉

No doubt they have something in the works but I doubt any of those in the pics are it (especially the slideout keyboard one, they brag too much about their onscreen one to go back on it).
My guess would be a redesign with some incremental upgrades (better processor, camera, etc) as opposed to a complete overhaul.
It would only be a year since the 3G in June. Considering how many ppl had to sign a new contract for 3 years and the current recession, I think it would be bad to release the next generation now.
Rogers will let you upgrade after a year. I think it is awesome. Who cares about the 3 year contract…as long as I can get a hardware upgrade every year I am thrilled.
Only took about a year to go from the 2G to the 3G, so if this is true it wont surprise me. I have the problem exchange plan (straight over the counter new phone warranty.) with Future Shop that covers 100% performance guarantee. So, if this comes along and replaces the 3G, I think that Safari crashing will start to bug me, and I will take it in, if you catch my drift.
Im glad i sold my iphone and canceled my contract, now if they do release it i will be signing a new contract right away, but i don’t think there will be any huge changes in it. Maybe some minor details, like new colors, new camera, 32 Gig model, but not a total make-over, too soon for that.

At&t doesn’t have a 4g network yet. Unless Sprint is bringing out the iphone 4g, this is nonsense.
