Scosche Double Review, Double Giveaway!
To start off with, I want to say sorry for my unintentional absence from iPhoneinCanada over the last few weeks, I had a sudden last-minute move on my hands, and now things have just settled down. I’ve got a large backlog of Apps and a few Accessories that I want to tell you guys about.
I thought I’d come back with a Bang so today I’m writing about a couple of Scosche products, both of which will be up for grabs as a prize for our readers!

Firstly we have the Scosche ReviveLite. I’m totally not making this up – it’s an iPod/iPhone wall charger and nightlight. How great is that?

Although Scosche boasts this product as a great accessory for Travel, I tend to think that the majority of people will likely use this the only place that most Grown-Ups use nightlights – in the Bathroom. As you’ll see in the photo above, it comes with several foam inserts to properly fit various models of iPhones and iPods (3G to Nanos) – which is thoughtful.
Both my 2G iPhone and 5th Gen Video iPod fit and charged perfectly, and the LED nightlight automatically turns on/off depending on light levels.

For all intents and purposes this is a neat little gadget, although I’m not convinced that a product like this needs to exist, it’s certainly unique and I’m sure that it will appeal to at least a few of you – so that’s why I’m giving my review unit away, see the end of this post for details on how to enter. If you want to buy one for yourself (it’s also available in Black) check out the Scosche site.
One last thing, the cost: $39.99. Honestly. Obviously that’s really quite high and think the Scosche people should consider the very niche market that this product appeals too – if the price was more around $19.99 I think more people would be inclined to give it a try.
Second up is something we can all get a bit more excited about, headphones! Specifically, Scosche’s IDR400m Headphones. Even more specifically, they’re called ‘Increased Dynamic Range noise isolation earphones with handsfree microphone’, fancy, right? Well because I’m no Audio expert, I had to look up just what ‘Increased Dynamic Range’ meant – I mean, I’ve heard of Noise-Cancelling Headphones , but that’s not what these are.

As usual, wiki to the rescue. As best I can tell, Dynamic Range pretty much means the range in decibels that your ear can hear, right. So then Increased Dynamic Range headphones give you louder Louds and quieter Quiets. I’m certain there’s more to it than that, so let me just dive into explaining how they sound.

I compared these headphones to every other set of headphones I had on hand. Standard-Issue iPhone Headphone/Mic, Inexpensive Earbuds, Apple In-Ear Headphones (no mic), and Rival Mp3 Player* Premium In-Ear Heaphones (no mic). And I have to say, these outperformed them all. I have not used regular earbuds in a while (opting for Apple in-ear headphones the day I bought my iPod), so having to compare these to those doesn’t even require comment.
I’d ashamedly been using the Rival Mp3 Player* Premium In-Ear Headphones for the better part of a year and were very happy with them, they were an improvement over even Apple’s own In-Ear Headphones. So when the IDR400m’s sounded better, I was very impressed. Although I don’t have the audio geek vernacular to describe in intricate detail how the bass was deeper, or the music was much crisper, the one description I can come up with is that they made the music Clearer – not just Louder (which I’ve only just realized is why I thought in-ear headphones were so much better in the first place).

You don’t need to have your iPhone cranked to 11 to hear your music clearly. Additionally, the buds themselves were extremely comfortable, given that they provide you with 6 sets of silicone earpieces you can use. Also, although I didn’t extensively test the mic (actually only once – on accident when someone called while I was in the middle of a particularly good part of a Josh Groban song), but it worked great. And to be honest, these have become my daily headphones now.
I know there are people out there who spend hundreds on the right earphones, then there are people like me, who probably wouldn’t spend more than $50. However, with that said, if you like in-ear phones and you want really great sound quality, and handsfree, I highly recommend picking up a pair of these. They’re $79.99 – in my books, worth it.
Of course, as promised, I do have a pair to give away! (Don’t worry, I still have mine, yours will be brand new).
So, either comment below or Tweet me on Twitter (@ChantelleJoytwt) to let me know which product you want ReviveLite or the Headphones. (And I know there will be at least a few hundred entries for the ReviveLite, right?!) I’ll announce the winners next weekend.

Finally companies are starting to come out with decent earbuds with inline mics. I don’t bother using the Apple ones that came with the phone, and have been looking for a decent pair.
by far, the best pair i have ever seen are the nuforce ne-7m
i got them for my iphone recently and the mic works very well and the sound beats out phones over 3 times their price ($50).
get them from amazon
The headphones sound interesting. I’m tempted to buy a pair. Of course I’ll wait to see I can win a pair first. 🙂
Those headphones look great!
I really would like the headphones 🙂

Thanks Dusty, I missed ya’ll! Looks like you’re not the only one interested in the ReviveLite (see comment above yours) 😉
I’d like the headphones please. I work in a call centre, and the silicone earbuds are the headset of choice among the employees. Very comfy, even over a 12 hour shift!
Would love to try these headphones.
Count me in for the headphones! Welcome back Chantelle.
Hey I’m digging the headphones, put my name in the hat please!! Thank you.
Well, the light thingy is a cute novelty, but not as appealing as the headphones… I sure would love the headphones for my iPhone cuz the Apple one’s keep falling off from my ears…
I’d really like those headphones
I’d love a pair of the headphones.
I would Heart the headphones!
The headphones look great, been looking to upgrade! Would love to win a pair!
The headphones look awesome 🙂 I think they would like to come live with me. Thanks for the informative post.
What?!?!? Better than the apple buds……come on now! Ok, I believe you!
Haha, thanks for the confidance. Honestly, the Apple In-Ear buds with mic is more expensive anyways – so it’s definitly a product that I wanted to tell people about!
I’d love to be entered for the headphones please.
The headphones look cool. Would be awesome if I won. Thanks for the review. And yes the nightlight was very appealing haha.
I would be interested in the earphones. Great review.
Hahaha at the nightlight picture. I love the look of those headphones and I REALLY need them right now since the clicky button on mine doesn’t work anymore :(. Please enter me in the draw for headphones.
Those headphones look sweeeeet. Nice review, you explained exactly why I’m gonna buy a pair (if I don’t win em, lol)… this site itself is another reason to love our iphones.
headphones!
Just in time for new ear buds… Please put my name in for these, I left my ear buds on the couch and my curious little dog decided that they would look better chewed up, maybe this is his way of saying I don’t spend enough time with him???
I will love to get one of that Headphones, i really need them in Nunavut where i live.
Good job on the review. ReviveLite please!
I’m in. And thanks for the review ^_^
Headphones would be great. The rubber on my apple ones wore out so I have been using some random ones I have at home.
Awesome give aways as usual.
Please enter me in the draw for the headphones.. I’ve always wanted a great pair for commuting…. thanks!!!
This sounds great! (no pun intended) – Any one knows how does this pair compare to other ones in this range? (say ones from Shure, Bose, etc. with in-line mics?)
I’d Love to win the earphones!!! 🙂
The revivelite is actually something I’d be very interested in if it were just cheaper.
I use my Iphone as an alarm clock so I keep it by my bedside. Problem is, I don’t have the room to put a side table near the bed since there is no room. So right now I have this little basket thing I’ve nailed to the wall which holds the phone while it charges.
There is a socket right beside the headboard where this thing could be plugged in and it would work perfectly. So I’d like to be entered in to the contest for the revivelite.
could you enter me into the headphones please, im using some cheap walmart ones after i lost mine :(, would love those new ones tho 🙂
Headphones please, my apple ones wore out (again), though the charger sounds interesting too.
In-Ear iphone buds. Droooool.. ghhaghhhhhhhhhh
Good to see you back! Enter me in for the headphones please!
The earphones would be an excellent addition to my iphone.
Thanks!!
I’d love to win those headphones. Mine on on their last legs.
Love to get a new set of headphones since mine are frayed behind recognition!
These earphones are just what I need. Hopefully I win them. 🙂
I would love the headphones.
i want the headphones please & thank you.
Wow! The revivelite looks awesome! Would be perfect for the dark, dark corner the socket beside my bed is in…
Ahhhh, the revivelite sounds amazing!!! I can’t fit a nighttable beside my bed, so I’ve kind of been plugging my iPhone into the socket next to my bed and well, putting it under my pillow. I know I know, it’s all *bad bad x00carly* because of all that radioactive cellphone cancer stuff but I have nowhere else to put it! I have other plugs in my room, but that was force me to get up off my lazy butt in the morning and make the long 2m trek to iPhone before reading the blog in my inbox! And we all know that would be impossible.
Sooo, the revivelite would really really help me! Thanks for a great post and a chance to win some great prizes! 🙂
I would love a pair of those headphones, those are the only ones I’ve seen so far that make me want to ditch my Apple ones.
I like the sound of the earphones, i wished they where $50…
I can use the headphones! Thanks!
But I can find a use the nite light too..in the bathroom so i wont miss the target when i go pee without my light on! 😛
I would like the headphones please.
revivelight please
