A report from Bloomberg reaffirms circulating rumors that Apple will launch their next iPhone, currently being called the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5, this September 2011.
The device release is to coincide with the release of iOS 5 and feature a faster processor and more advanced camera. Bloomberg cites two people “familiar with the plans” as the source of the report.
The device will include the A5 processor, the more powerful chip that Apple added to the iPad 2 earlier this year, along with an 8-megapixel camera, up from the 5-megapixel model in the iPhone 4
The report further explains that the next iPhone is to be very similar aesthetically to the current iPhone 4.

I’ve always thought (all along) they were going to call it the iPhone 4S, considering it’s a slight hardware upgrade, iOS 5 is going to be the ‘big’ release.
So you’d have to be a real fanboy to upgrade your iPhone 4 to iPhone 4S (unless you sell your old iPhone on Kijiji/Craigslist and get your moneys worth and then just buy out the new iPhone for an additional $100)
I think this is ridiculous. This is a ridiculous update. The iPhone 4 should have these specs to begin with. I probably won’t update until iPhone 6.

I think the A5, 8MP, and 64GB option are the obvious upgrades for an iPhone ‘4S’, the question is will Apple stick to their guns with their controversial attenna and glass back design? Maybe not…pressure to redesign that sooner than later could easily explain the delayed announcement & release..if so it could be a true iPhone ‘5’ with more than the expected upgrades, I would love the phone to be smaller (without reducing screen size that is) – there is lots of real estate around the screen that could be trimmed, particularly if the home button was reloacted to the side(s) of the phone…or integrated as a gesture in IOS…

I didn’t say problem, I said controversial design, when Steve Jobs himself refers to ‘antennagate’ in a press release, even if it’s not really a technical problem you can’t deny it was a PR nightmare to say the least…I’m still not convinced they will change the case design this release but when they do, you can bet your house it will include an antenna change..maybe not radical but enough to put the controversy to rest
