Apple’s 2017 WWDC Scholarships to Accept Submissions March 27

Apple has announced today details on how students can apply to receive a WWDC17 ticket and accommodation free of charge:

Submissions will be accepted from Monday, March 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. PDT until Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. PDT. All applicants will be notified of their status by Friday, April 21, 2017.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • 13 years of age or older;
  • Registered for free with Apple as an Apple developer or a member of a paid Apple Developer Program; and
  • Enrolled part-time or full-time in a course of study, or be a member or alumni of a STEM organization.

Apple will require students to tell the company about themselves, provide school or membership information, upload their Swift playground and describe it, and tell more about how they’ve “considered sharing your coding knowledge and enthusiasm for computer science with others, in 500 words or less.”

Applicants can also provide a letter from a teacher, supervisor or person of authority to apply for financial assistance for travel.

Submissions will be judged by Apple based on technical accomplishment, creativity of ideas; and content of written responses.

WWDC 2017 will take place June 5 to 9, in San Jose, California.
