Sonos speakers with Amazon Alexa support, such as the former’s Sonos One and Sonos Beam, can now control Apple Music.

The launch of Alexa voice control for Apple Music is available to Sonos customers in the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland, announced this morning. Notably absent is Canada, of course.

” the US, UK, and Ireland, you can now use your voice to control @AppleMusic through your Sonos One, Beam, or Echo device. Just add the #AppleMusic skill in your Alexa app,” announced Sonos on Twitter.

The latest version of the Sonos controller app will let Apple Music owners connect their accounts, which will require the Apple Music skill to be turned on within the Amazon Alexa app.

Sonos says you’ll then be able to use your voice and say something like, “Alexa, play Today’s Hits playlist on Apple Music,” or “Today’s Hits, from Apple Music”, and it’ll play on your compatible Sonos speaker.

Sonos recently launched a line of new bookshelf speakers with IKEA and also a new second generation Sonos One.

When will this feature to control Apple Music with Alexa reach Sonos speakers in Canada? A Sonos spokesperson told iPhone in Canada the following statement:

When Apple Music Alexa control becomes available in a new region, it takes dedicated engineering and testing to bring support to Sonos. We don’t have a timeline to share today for when Apple Music Alexa control will be available on Sonos in Canada, but stay tuned.
