Amazon Canada to Open First Fulfillment Centre in Quebec

Quebec is set to get its first Amazon fulfillment centre, according to the online retailer. According to Amazon Canada, a new fulfillment centre is planned to open for the 2020 holiday shopping season in the borough of Lachine in Montreal.

Amazon says the new Lachine fulfillment centre will create 300 new full-time jobs on day one, complete with “comprehensive pay and benefits.”

“We’re excited about our growth in Montreal, which gives us the opportunity to better serve our customers across Quebec,” said Alexandre Gagnon, Vice President of Amazon Canada, in a statement. “The Greater Montreal area has a talented workforce, and we are committed to providing the area with great job opportunities that have comprehensive pay and benefits.”

Employees at this location will “pick, pack, and ship items for customers, ranging from toys and pet products to small electronics,” explains Amazon.

Once open, the new facility will be Amazon’s 12th fulfillment facility in Canada—and first in Quebec—joining the company’s current fulfillment centres in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario.
