Amazon Echo Devices Now Support Multi-Room Music for Spotify in Canada and Beyond

Amazon has announced as of today, Multi-Room Music for its Echo devices now supports Spotify. This feature—which launched earlier this year—allows customers to play music to a specific Echo device or group of devices, just by asking Alexa.

Previously, Multi-Room Music only supported Prime Music and TuneIn, but today Spotify support is available. All users need to do is say something like “Alexa, play my music upstairs” (with “upstairs” being a group name) and music will play from your default music provider choice.

You can also ask Alexa to play music from a specific provider too, by saying “Alexa, play Ace of Base on upstairs from Spotify.”

Spotify on Echo devices works in Canada, the U.S., UK, Germany and Ireland. For our American friends, they also have SiriusXM.

Amazon announced a trio of Echo devices for Canada in November, which debuted earlier this month along with Alexa, the company’s virtual assistant. More recently, Amazon’s Fire tablets also launched in Canada, starting at $59.99.
