Amazon Unveils New Echo Show 5, Show 8 Smart Speakers in Canada

Amazon on Wednesday announced new Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 8 smart speakers with displays in Canada. These smart speakers are powered by the company’s Alexa digital assistant and can also control your compatible smart home devices, play music, stream media and more.

The new Echo Show 8 includes an 8-inch HD adaptive colour display, new oct-core processor, along with a 13MP wide-angle front camera with digital pan, tilt and zoom. There are also stereo speakers and the ability to turn off the mic and front camera with a shutter. The colours available are Glacier White and Charcoal.

You can order the Echo Show 8 for $169.99 and it launches on June 9, 2021.

“Customers love using Echo Show to easily stay in touch and in the past year have made nearly three times the number of video calls globally than the year prior,” said Celine Lee, Canada Country Manager, Amazon Alexa, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.

“With these new Echo Show devices, we focused on communications—bringing a powerful camera and digital pan and zoom capabilities to the new Echo Show 8, upgrading the Echo Show 5 camera, and adding new AR effects to make video calls more fun and engaging,” added Lee.

The new Echo Show 5 has a 5.5-inch display with an upgraded 2MP HD camera (with privacy shutter) with now double the pixels, available in more colours including Charcoal, Glacier White, and Deep Sea Blue.

You can order the Echo Show 5 today for $99.99 and it launches on June 9, 2021.

Back in April, Amazon also unveiled a new fresh to its Fire tablets as well, including new Kids Editions.
