Apple Music Student Plans in Canada Get Apple TV+ for Free for “Limited Time”

Apple has confirmed Apple Music Student Plans in Canada can get Apple TV+ for free “for a limited time.” Apple TV+ launched this morning at $5.99 per month with a limited library of original content. There is an annual subscription available for $59.99 CAD Canada.

News of Apple Music Student Plans getting Apple TV+ for free was mentioned yesterday, but now confirmed for Canadians.

A press release by Apple this morning mentions the following:

All Apple Music student plan subscribers will get free access to Apple TV+ for a limited time. This includes students who have signed up for the Apple Music student plan prior to the launch of Apple TV+. To get free access to Apple TV+, Apple Music student plan subscribers simply need to sign in with their Apple ID to the Apple TV app or on tv.apple.com. Offer good for verified college students only and does not extend to a Family Sharing group.

Students part of Apple Music will get Apple TV+ for free, but there is no Family Sharing included, unlike a regular Apple TV+ subscription.

You can watch Apple TV+ on the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch and Mac, plus on select Samsung smart TVs and Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices. Those with AirPlay 2-enabled Samsung, LG and VIZIO smart TVs can play Apple Originals from the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac directly to their smart TVs.

Apple Music costs $4.99 CAD per month in Canada, so the perk of free Apple TV for a limited time is nice (it may be another way to bump up Apple TV+ subscriber numbers).
