According to a report by 9to5Mac, Apple is developing a new Remote for its next-generation Apple TV. The new Apple TV Remote codenamed ‘B519′ is different from the code name of the current Siri Remote, which is internally identified as ‘B439.’

The source adds that since the new Remote has an internal model number way above the current version, it is expected that the redesign will be quite significant.
Ever since its debut in 2017, the current generation Siri Remote has been controversial for not having physical navigation buttons or for having a glass surface, which makes it extremely fragile. Apple is expected to address these issues with the upcoming variant.
It was recently reported that Apple has removed mentions of the name ‘Siri Remote’ from the tvOS 14.5 beta, and has replaced it with ‘Apple TV Remote.’ This further suggests an upcoming change to the accessory.
As for when the new Apple TV or the updated Remote will be launched, it remains to be seen.
