Apple Watch Chief Now Helping Apple’s Self-Driving Car Project: Report

According to Business Insider, one of Apple’s key executives is now helping out with the company’s self-driving car project.

Kevin Lynch, VP of technology and one of the architects behind Apple Watch and the company’s health and wearables strategy, is now also working on the secretive Apple Car.

Business Insider says numerous people familiar with the matter informed them of Lynch’s new undertaking. The VP will remain working on Apple Watch and health, however.

One source says Evan Doll, a director of health software engineering, will fill in the void on staff as Lynch switches some of his focus to Apple Car, which is said to be years and years away.

Recent rumours have cited Apple may leverage its veteran supply chain partner, Foxconn, for Apple Car production, while the company has also reportedly been in talks with Lidar companies as well. Apple was also in talks with Hyundai/Kia about helping to make the company’s car, but those talks fizzled.
