New Apple Watch Series 6, iPad Models Appear in Eurasian Regulatory Filings

Filings for seven new iPads and eight new Apple Watch models have been spotted, suggesting the Apple Watch Series 6 and new iPad release date may be imminent.

First spotted by Consomac, the regulatory database filings show never-before-seen model identifiers for Apple “tablets” and “wearables,” likely relating to Apple Watch Series 6 and the upcoming iPad refresh.

The EEC ratifies products for sale in Russia and its surrounding countries and their appearance in its database is generally a sign that they are due for release.

The model numbers to be found are A2291, A2292, A2351, A2352, A2375, A2376, A2355, A2356 — believed to relate to the Apple Watch Series 6 — and A2270, A2072, A2316, A2324, A2325, A2428, A2429 — which are reportedly variants of iPad.

The numerous different Apple Watch models could signify different colours, sizes, LTE capabilities, etc, so it’s unlikely that there will be a cheaper, more accessible version launched alongside the Series 6 (contrary to some recent rumours). And the iPad numbers could mean that a new standard iPad, plus upgraded iPad Air and iPad mini are on their way before the end of 2020.

These filings are a requirement for Apple (and other companies) to launch new hardware. So this is a good indicator of what’s coming down the pipe. With that being said, there’s no way of telling when these new devices will actually see the light of day. This is a clear sign that new products are coming, yes, but it’s not a confirmation of a launch date, unfortunately.
