Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Beats iPhone XS Max in New Drop Test

Samsung’s recently-released Galaxy Note 10+ handset has been put to the “drop” test against Apple’s current smartphone flagship, the XS Max.

PhoneBuff has posted a video in which it pits the iPhone XS Max against Samsung’s newest flagship, the Galaxy Note 10+, in a drop test. The Note 10+ features Gorilla Glass 6 on both the front and the back of the device, and as such, the Samsung device has been crowned the new drop test champion.

During each test, a perfect 10 is awarded to the phone that suffered the least damage after a fall. A score of six through nine was then awarded to the second device depending on how it did compare to the winner. After all of the tests, PhoneBuff gave the Galaxy Note 10+ a winning total of 37, whereas the iPhone XS Max topped out at 34.

In the first test, the Note 10+ saw more damage in the back drop, while the iPhone saw a bit less cracking. The second test also saw the iPhone come away with less damage. The Note 10+, however, saw less damage in both the front drop test as well as in the “bonus round” of ten consecutive drops, after which the entire touchscreen remained usable.

The real-world experiences we’ve all had would suggest that many of these drop tests don’t really pan out under real-world conditions, but it’s also fair to say that while you probably don’t remember the times you’ve dropped your iPhone and didn’t damage it, you’ll always remember that one time that you did.
