Google Assistant launched on Sonos speakers in the U.S. back in May, leaving other countries such as Canada still waiting for their own regional launch.
Now, it appears Google Assistant is coming to Sonos speakers in Canada on July 9, 2019, as confirmed by Best Buy. Page 13 of the electronic retailer’s latest flyer, dated June 21-27, says “Google Assistant coming July 9th”, next to an image of the Sonos One and Sonos Beam.
No word if this mention of the Google Assistant launch was an accident or not by Best Buy, but we’ve reached out to Sonos to seek clarification.
As of writing, the Sonos website still shows Google Assistant as available in the U.S., while Canada and other nations are listed as “coming soon”.
Google Assistant on Sonos will allow you to control music and your entire Sonos system, while also control volume, manage your schedule, control your smart home and also discover new music.
You’ll be able to start songs from Deezer, Google Play Music, Pandora, Spotify, and YouTube Music with Google Assistant on Sonos. The company’s Sonos One and Sonos Beam already support Amazon’s Alexa assistant.
