How the iPhone Blew Up the Wireless Industry
One year ago yesterday was the anniversary of the iPhone’s announcement by Mr. Steve Jobs. His presentation of the so called “iPhone” was one that definitely has changed the wireless scene. Since the iPhone started selling on June 29, 2007, this phone/iPod/multimedia device has made consumers iPhone-crazy. Time magazine called it the Invention of the Year for 2007!
Anyways, if you haven’t seen this article yet, it’s a great read that shows the high expectations Steve Jobs expects for the launch of any Apple product, and especially the iPhone. The article, written by Wired, titled “The Untold Story: How the iPhone Blew Up the Wireless Industry,” goes into depth about how Jobs was able to negotiate with wireless carriers, the lengths Apple went to keep this project under the radar, and how much R&D the company invested into the phone. Even if the iPhone doesn’t “wow” you, I would still recommend reading this article!
