Did you pre-order iPhone X from Apple? If you did and you’re expecting a November 3 delivery, tracking numbers have been assigned, but they aren’t available via your Order Status on Apple.ca, yet.
But the UPS.com track by ‘Shipment Reference’ trick now works, as shipment labels have been created today.
Here’s how to easily find your iPhone X pre-order tracking number in Canada:
Step 1: Visit UPS.com here.
Step 2: Click on ‘Track by Reference’ and then under ‘Shipment Reference’, enter your phone number (no dashes required). Try adding a ‘1’ before it or by itself.
Step 3: Click ‘Track’ and you’ll find your tracking number.
As you can see, the message reads “A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status will be updated.”
Also, the special instructions note ‘Signature Required’ (as with all Apple deliveries), plus “At the request of the Shipper, Authorize Shipment Release is not available.”

Apple’s iPhone X is set to launch in Canada this Friday, November 3. Right now, our order status is still at ‘preparing to ship’, but we expect more movement to happen on Thursday evening.

Check your phone number with the one on your Apple mailing address? Try adding or removing ‘1’ in front.

Got it now tried a number of different combinations XXXXXXXXX worked.
The only thing you get from this is seeing that a shipping label has been created, which is pretty much meaningless. I’d assume by the time anything else is updated, Apple will already have provided your tracking number to you anyway. Not sure I’m understanding the point.
The point is, now I already have the tracking numbers in my UPS app Thanks Gary 🙂

What’s the difference if I do it now or later when ? gives it to me. This way, it’s already done, two tracking numbers added ?
It’s not a big deal, I’m not trying to make an issue of it. I was honestly wondering if I was missing something that it gave some benefit, but clearly it doesn’t.
It’s exciting. and we do this every year as people want to know the exact whereabouts of their iPhones in ‘real time’.
I totally understand the excitement, I can’t wait till Friday to pick up my own!
But until Apple indicates the phone has shipped, you’re only seeing a shipping label has been created. Your phone isn’t even at UPS so you’re not seeing where your phone is. By the time it actually is picked up by UPS and you can track the location of the phone, you’ll already have the number from Apple.
In any case, if it’s important to people, I’m happy it adds to their excitement. I was just trying to figure out if maybe it gave you more details than just the tracking number from Apple.

still says preparing for shipment, authorization was removed on the card, contacted Apple multiple times and told me that it is guaranteed to ship by friday. I’m getting so worried!

Apple status updated to “shipped” just passed midnight pacific time
I received the shipping notice by e-mail from Apple at 3:06: “Your shipment is on its way. / Votre colis est en route.” Yay! ?
Does anyone know if it’s possible to change it to pick up at the main UPS centre? I dont live far and it would be so much better to pick it up in the AM.
I tried it, but it’s saying it’s temporarily not available. Also when i tried changing to pick up at a UPS location, it said it’ll be there by Monday, so I guess i’ll be waiting for the driver all day.

Hi! I pre-ordered via apple on Friday. I have my confirmed receipt at 3:20AM. (The site didnt come up until 3:11AM) WHY does mine say 2-3 weeks? Why am I not getting it tomorrow? I bought it within 7 minutes of the website being up? Should I call Apple? Any point? IM so sad. I have my new case, my new AirBuds, but no phone for tomorrow. So So Sad.
