iOS 14.2 Download Now Available, Along with iPadOS 14.2

Apple has just released iOS 14.2 for download, along with iPadOS 14.2. Last week, Release Candidate versions were made available to developers and public beta testers, but now this final version has been released for everybody.

Apple customers also have tvOS 14.2 and watchOS 7.1 available as well, plus iOS 14.2 for HomePod.

Also available for older iPhone and iPad users is iOS 12.4.9.

You can update your iPhone or iPad by going to Settings > General > Software Update. We can confirm this has just released in Canada. 1.4GB for the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

This release comes ahead of iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 mini and HomePod mini pre-orders, set for Friday, November 6.

What’s new in iOS 14.2 according to Apple:

• Over 100 new emoji
• 8 new wallpapers in both light and dark modes
• Magnifier can now detect people with LiDAR (iPhone 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max)
• iPhone 12 Leather Sleeve with MagSafe now supported
• Optimized battery charging for AirPods
• Headphone audio level notifications
• New AirPlay controls
• Intercom support for HomePod, HomePod mini
• HomePod with Apple TV 4K now supports stereo, surround sound, Dolby Atmos
• Option to provide statistics about Exposure Notifications anonymously to participating health authorities

Bug issues fixed:

• Apps could be out of order on Home Screen dock
• Camera viewfinder may be black when launched
• Lock Screen keyboard misses touches when trying to enter passcode
• Reminders could default to older times
• Photos widget may not display content
• Weather widget may not display high temperature in Celsius when set to Fahrenheit
• Next-hour precipitation chart could display improperly when rain stops
• Voice Memo recordings interrupted by incoming calls
• Black screen issue when watching Netflix
• Apple Cash could fail to send or receive money via Siri (USA Only)
• Apple Watch app may crash when opened
• Workout GPS routes or Health data prevented from syncing between watch and iPhone
• Audio wrongly labelled “Not Playing” in CarPlay Dashboard
• Devices not charging wirelessly
• Exposure Notifications is disabled when restoring from iCloud backup or iPhone Migration
