iOS 14.5 Download and iPadOS 14.5 and More Now Available in Canada

As promised by Apple last week at its ‘Spring Loaded’ special event, you can now finally download iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 for your iPhone and iPad. The software updates are now available for download in Canada. The update comes in at 1.19GB for the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

To update your device, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

Apple has also released iOS 14.5 for its latest iPad Pro models as well. Also available are tvOS updates for Apple TV3, Apple TV4 (Apple TV HD), Apple TV 4K and iOS 14.5 for HomePod mini as well.

The larger iOS 14.5 update has some new features, such as the ability for your Apple Watch to unlock your iPhone when you have a mask on, something everyone has been waiting for during COVID-19.

“Starting today, customers can use their Apple Watch to securely unlock iPhone when attempting to use Face ID while wearing a face mask. With Apple Watch on the wrist, unlocked, and in close proximity to iPhone, users can simply glance at their iPhone and they will receive haptic feedback from Apple Watch, indicating their iPhone has been unlocked. The new feature works with iPhone X and later and Apple Watch Series 3 and later,” explained Apple in a press release.

Also new are expanded voice options for Siri, which will no longer default to the female voice, plus new emojis, and more privacy controls with the debut of App Tracking Transparency.

This update will also bring support for Apple’s new AirTag trackers, set to launch this Friday, April 30.
