This iPhone X Wallpaper Gives You a ‘Notch-less’ Homescreen

Got your shiny new iPhone X, but are having a hard time embracing the notch? Well, this might help to some extent. Shared by @AHuberman1 on Twitter, this modified wallpaper for the iPhone X can give you the illusion of a ‘notch-less’ iPhone X homescreen.

All you need to do is download it from this link, and set it as a a still wallpaper by pinching out and dragging down all the way.

From what the Internet has been saying about the iPhone X notch, it’s not really that big of a deal and ‘disappears’ once you start using the phone (as it has in our case). But for those who don’t want to see those ‘ears’, this might be fun to try.

I actually love the notch.
It draws attention to all the technology sitting in that little strip, and more importantly it makes the bezels the same size on all sides.
I think Samsung’s latest phones look terrible, and I’m really happy that Apple went with this design.

Notch doesn’t bother me, but i wonder why Apple didn’t do it like this to being with where left and right parts are just for black bar with notification and status. End full working screen at the bottom of the notch so apps don’t go above it and it just shows you battery, carrier, etc.
There is absolutely no reason why videos should play all the way to the notch and other reasons why apps need that little space.

I agree, Apple should have done exactly this. But the notch does bother me so let’s see what the 2018 iphone will look like.

The notch doesn’t bother me at all, I rarely notice it. But I think they should have done this too. Other than the indicators, it is useless.

Without the home button they needed something to differentiate itself from all other phones especially on the MFI icon.

As a software developer some of the design decisions were clearly make by Apple engineers. For example, If you hide the notch using a similar approach as with this wallpaper you run a high risk of ruining phone’s OLED screen my burn-ins. However, if you pretend like there is no notch then pixel colours are changing frequently in that area thus preventing early burnins.

The notch it’s only an issue for the Android users cause we have an extra row that they don’t have.

Extra row of what? Apps? What difference does that make? I’ve had an iphone since 3GS and the notch is just plain ugly to me. Completely the opposite of what used to come to mind when someone said ‘Apple’. I appreciate the huge leap apple took to try and make a 2017-looking phone but the notch makes it a huge fail.

Instead of losing an full line only to display: time, provider, WiFi strength and battery strength it’s on that “half-line”. Ugly or not, just a matter of taste. That first row is packed of technology that no other company was able to do. I have X since Friday and will keep it, you can still return it if you don’t like it (you have 15 days).

I think it looks better without the notch.

I really don’t understand why some people have an issue with the notch. I don’t really notice it after a few hours of use.
To each their own though.

I just ordered my X today from Rogers. I was at the Apple store deciding on what colour to get and try it out. Not until someone beside me mentioned the notch did I even notice it was there. It’s really not a big deal. Without the home button Apple needed something to differentiate itself from the rest of the field (especially on the MFI icon)

It’s definitely the best iPhone I’ve ever had. I’m extremely happy with it.

I like how they paid attention to the little things like in home screen swiping right on the home bar gets you into app switcher and swiping left activates reachability.

The best is to have a wallpaper with a black background. Got a wallpaper of Jupiter and it looks great.

This looks way better and makes more practical sense. I returned my iPhone X and went back to my 6s today for a few reasons, but one was that, while the notch wasn’t terribly offensive, it served no purpose and needlessly hindered landscape viewing experiences. They could have left the notched and only used the top corners for time/date info throughout the OS. It’s a trade off, not something to be celebrated.

I just photoshopped my own rounded top end wallpaper to give a black status bar and hide the notch.

Otherwise I’ve generally had a black homescreen wallpaper like my first gen iPhone.

I don’t mint the notch, but I think hiding it with a black bar would make it still usable and visually more appealing to all.

It’s too bad there’s not a setting to hide the notch by not using that part of the screen with applications. I think it’s ugly as hell.
