McDonald’s Canada Switching to ‘MyMcDonald’s Rewards’ Points Program

Update Feb. 28, 2022: McDonald’s Canada has updated the on-cup McCafé Rewards card expiry date for Manitoba and parts of Ontario. The company told iPhone in Canada it is no longer Feb. 28, 2022, and can now be still redeemed “until further notice.”

McDonald’s Canada quietly announced back in August of this year it would soon be transitioning to the MyMcDonald’s Rewards program, currently used in the United States.

Back in August, McDonald’s let customers know the terms and conditions of its mobile app had changed, detailing the move away from the existing McDonald’s Mobile Rewards program.

The current program offers free coffee or fries with purchases of 7 coffee beverages. This program will be ending in February 2022.

“MyMcDonald’s Rewards is replacing the McDonald’s Mobile Rewards program. If you participated in McDonald’s Mobile Rewards program and have an existing McDonald’s Mobile Reward (“MMR”), then any existing MMRs must be redeemed on or before February 28, 2022. All MMRs expire on February 28, 2022 when existing purchases towards MMR are converted to points,” explains McDonald’s Canada. So that means you better start redeeming your coffee/fries freebies soon.

Right now, testing of the MyMcdonald’s Rewards program is only available at select locations in Manitoba, along with Fort Frances, Kenora and Dryden, Ontario.

The new MyMcDonald’s Rewards program gives you 100 points for every $1 CAD spent. So $10 spent means 1,000 points.

Reward tiers are as follows…McDonald’s says points will expire automatically after six months.

McDonald’s says outstanding rewards punches from the coffee card will become 300 points each—up to a maximum of 1,800 points (6 punches). Free rewards will remain in your Offers until February 28, 2022.

For those in Manitoba and the select cities mentioned above in Ontario, McDonald’s is offering a welcome bonus of 5,000 points on your first purchase, when you download the McDonald’s app and make your first purchase.
