A new document submitted to the FCC reveals the first Beats branded product to be released under the guidance of Apple.
The document suggests that Apple will soon be releasing a pair of Beats Solo2 headphones that include wireless Bluetooth 4.0 LE functionality. Beats currently offers wireless headphones through its more expensive Studio line, which cost $349. The Solo2 line of headphones are meant to be more affordable, indicating that we may see the new Solo2 wireless headphones retail for under $300.
The design of the new headphones, as seen in the image above, shows off a similar design to its current Solo2 lineup.
“Apple is specifically listed as the creator and tester of the new product, and the Apple brand is even stamped on the packaging of the product. The documents also reveal Apple’s request for confidentially for the testing.”
Apple acquired Beats Electronics for $3 billion in May, making it the largest acquisition in Apple’s history. As a part of the acquisition both Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, the co-founders of Beats, have agreed to work with Apple. After the acquisition, Apple CEO Tim Cook reiterated that “music is an important part of all of our lives and holds a special place within our hearts at Apple.” The company keeps investing in music in order to create the most innovative music products and services in the world.
The new Beats Solo2 headphones are currently under review by the FCC and it is still unclear when the device will be released.
