Roku Launches Guest Mode, Automatic Account Link Features in Canada

Roku has announced new features for its users in Canada, launching Guest Mode and Automatic Account Link today.

According to details sent to iPhone in Canada, Roku says Guest Mode “is perfect for your next house swap or for short term rentals.”

This mode allows visitors to sign in to subscription channels and services with their own account credentials. The key here is guest mode allows those signing in to specify when their accounts will automatically log out from the Roku device.

To enable Guest Mode, go to Settings > System > Guest Mode. The feature can also be remotely controlled via Roku.com, allowing original owners to sign out guests if they forget their logins.

Another feature here today is Automatic Account Link, which “makes subscription streaming on multiple Roku devices with the same account easier for users.”



This means if you’re signed into a supported subscription service on a Roku device, you won’t need to sign in again on another device. This is essential acts as a single-sign on feature, with the first channels part of this launch being fuboTV, CBS All Access Canada and Plex, with more channels to come.

Last month, cnnGO launched on Roku in Canada, while the platform will also include Apple’s upcoming TV app later this fall.
