Starbucks Launches “Tweet-a-Coffee” in Canada
Today Starbucks Canada launched a program called “Tweet-a-Coffee” which allows users to instantly share the gift of Starbuck in under 140 characters. The company is trying to take eGifting to the next level.
Richard Burjaw , vice-president Starbucks Coffee Canada, said:
“Starbucks is a gathering place that creates moments of connection between people every day. Tweet-a-coffee is a brand new way for our customers to connect with friends and followers and share the gift of Starbucks instantly. Whether it’s to say #thank you, #congratulations or simply #justbecause we’re thrilled to enable the ability for customers to spread some kindness.”
Canadians are among the most active Internet users who engage on Twitter, and the new program from Starbucks intends to make it easier for users to share gifts in fun and exciting ways.
Starting today registered Starbucks users in Canada can send a $5.00 gift card using Twitter by following the steps below:
– Visit www.starbucks.ca/tweetacoffee to get started and to link your Starbucks account and your Twitter account
– Follow the instructions to send a Tweet to @tweetacoffee and to the gift recipient’s Twitter handle
– The recipient will receive a link on Twitter with details on how to claim their $5 eGift.
– You can send more eGifts directly on Twitter by sending a Tweet using @tweetacoffee
Customers can them redeem the gift by printing out the eGift, showing it on their device, or loading it to their Starbucks mobile app. The company is also letting customers send eGifts online at www.starbuck.ca/card.
With the introduction of iOS 6, Apple announced Passbook, a simple and easy way to store all your cards, tickets, and coupons. Starbucks also allows you to use Passbook as your Starbucks card, simply show your phone to the merchant and it will be just like using your physical card.
