Google is slowly organizing the world’s information with their innovative search engine and other website/program offerings. Google Earth was a revolutionary program available to computer users and now it’s available for FREE on your iPhone! The Google team has spent some time implementing this 9MB download via the App Store into an intuitive app for the iPhone. It was released yesterday and it’s one of the must have free apps out there. Let’s go over some brief highlights of this amazing program.
Google Earth for the iPhone 3G: Out of this World
Taking advantage of the iPhone’s intuitive touch controls, once Google Earth launches you can easily zoom in and out using the “pinch” method. Sliding your finger from left to right will allow you to easily navigate the globe. Here are some of the key features according to the Google blog:
With Google Earth for iPhone, you can:
• Tilt your iPhone to adjust your view to see mountainous terrain
• View the Panoramio layer and browse the millions of geo-located photos from around the world
• View geo-located Wikipedia articles
• Use the ‘Location’ feature to fly to your current location
• Search for cities, places and business around the globe with Google Local Search

As you can see from the pics above, the application is very similar to the desktop application. If you want to find your location, just click on the bottom left and it will locate you using the iPhone’s GPS. Want to face North? Click on the compass in the top right hand corner. You can even search for restaurants, coffee shops, etc around you and they’ll all appear!
