About a week ago, some Tesla owners in Canada saw their Loot Box referral credits disappear, then return days later, showing an expiry date.
Within the Tesla mobile app, the Loot Box details referral credits owners receive, when friends and family sign up under their referral link and buy a Tesla (does not apply to Model Y, yet). Currently, a referral can nab you 1,500 km of free credits at Tesla Superchargers.
“You and anyone using your referral link can each earn 1,500 km of free Supercharging with the purchase of a new Tesla car. Each car referral also gives you a chance to win a Model Y monthly or Roadster supercar quarterly. Owners who already have free Supercharging get two chances to win,” explains the Tesla mobile app.
For Canadians, the update now lists an expiry date on referral credits, which are six months once activated and if unused, are removed.
If your Loot Box referral credits are listed in kilometres, the Metric system applies for the date, so that means it’s the format day/month/year, while for those showing Loot Box credits in miles, it’s in the format of month/day/year.
So if your Loot Box referrals recently disappeared, they should be back by now, showing an expiry date on your credits. With the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown and everyone staying home, these credits are being unused for the most part by Tesla owners and sadly look to expire too soon—maybe it’s worth tweeting at CEO Elon Musk to extend them due to coronavirus?
