More than 10 million downloads in less than 48 hours after release!

We’re excited for the positive reception of Google Maps for iPhone around the world. Congratulations to the Maps Team on the recognition for the passion and hard work they poured into it, for this release and over the last 7+ years.

Early reviews of the app have been quite positive for a 1.0 release from Google. The app features vector maps, turn by turn directions and transit directions as well. You can also get Siri to launch Google Maps instead too.

Google Maps for iOS vaulted into the number one spot under ‘top free apps’ in the App Store in less than 12 hours, so these download numbers reflect that instant popularity. Are you using Google Maps for iOS over Apple Maps?
