PayPal for iOS Redesigned, Claims ‘Most Popular’ Payment Platform in Canada

PayPal today launched a brand new iOS app, version 6.0 which brings a complete design overhaul. The company says the new design makes it easier for people to manage and send money from their iPhone or Android device.

Users will first see a new home screen which quickly summarizes your account balance, quick shortcuts to activity, plus large touch icons for sending/requesting money and ordering ahead at participating restaurants.

You will now be able to add bank accounts right from the app, plus scan in credit cards as funding sources, and also initiate transfers from your account balance to financial institution. Also, account info now provides up to 3 years of history within the app, such as how payments were funded and money was sent.

PayPal says over the past 24 months, they’ve “seen over 100% growth” in the number of peer-to-peer transactions within the app. The company says PayPal is now “the most popular mobile payment platform in Canada,” according to Gfk research, with 65% of Canadians having used PayPal on mobile in the past six months.

Last year, PayPal for iOS added support for Touch ID, to allow users to login quickly.

I like this new design—it’s simple and refreshing to use. Now only if their website could adopt such simplicity and ease of use as well.
