RBC Mobile for iOS Now Lets You Temporarily Lock Credit Cards

RBC Mobile for iOS has been updated with new features, such as the ability to place a temporary hold on your credit cards, without the need to call into a customer service centre.

The feature, according to the bank, gives customers peace of mind if they have misplaced their credit card or if they are travelling without it. The temporary lock means the card will be unusable for transactions and cash advances, but pre-authorized transactions such as bill payments will still occur, along with refunds.

“We know that many of our clients who report their credit card as lost end up finding it, creating the inconvenience of having to wait for a replacement card,” says Sean Amato-Gauci, Executive Vice President, Cards, Payments & Banking, RBC, in a press release.

“Client expectations are evolving, and credit card controls are another way we’re making it easier for clients to do business with us. This new feature takes the stress out of misplacing your credit card, and helps our clients take their time to retrace their steps and find their card, while giving them peace of mind that their money is safely protected by RBC,” added Amato-Gauci.

According to RBC, over the past year, they’ve seen a 19% increase in active mobile users, while in Q1 2018, mobile banking became “their primary digital channel for financial transactions.”

Other new features in this update include the ability to send cross-border transfers, while also access RBC Bank U.S. online banking. Users can now also switch statements and notifications from paper to electronic within the app, while also open up an RBC personal bank account on mobile as well.

For those looking to book an appointment with an RBC advisor, it’s now possible in the app, while Adding a Bill Payee is now easier with popular billers and predictive search.

RBC Mobile was recently named the ‘Best Mobile Banking Experience in Canada’ for 2018 by J.D. Power.
