Apple Sells 3 Million iPads in 72 Hours

While the iPad mini launch attracted fewer buyers across the globe, some areas in Canada and in the US have completely sold out the latest Apple gadget within a few hours. To put that into numbers: Apple sold 3 million iPads in three days, which makes a million iPads per day, the company announced.

This is a huge step ahead for Apple and a relaxing news for investors, as this number is double the Wi-Fi-only iPad units sold during the first weekend of availability back in March, when the Cupertino company sold 1.5 million Wi-Fi iPads.

“Customers around the world love the new iPad mini and fourth generation iPad,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We set a new launch weekend record and practically sold out of iPad minis. We’re working hard to build more quickly to meet the incredible demand.”

Yet we have to mention that Apple didn’t disclose how many iPad mini units it sold during the first weekend. It packed both iPad mini and fourth-generation iPad into one number, which obviously shows the demand for iPad is higher than expected.
