New Apple Guide Reveals iOS Security Features Found on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch

Today Apple published a detailed PDF security guide for iOS. The guide outlines the security architecture, encryption, and data protection features found on iOS devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

While the published document was released quietly, this guide may suggest that Apple is looking to be more open with technical details and be more transparent with regards to device security.

The guide is fairly comprehensive, looking at topics such as App Store submissions, code signing, sandboxing, and much more. The document also has a particular emphasis on enterprise/corporate security which is interesting because many observers say that the iPhone is not designed for the enterprise market due to its lack of security.

Overall, the 20-page guide is a solid read for those that are interested in the security features and protocols of their iDevices.

Excellent!  Thanks.  This will be very helpful in my arguments with our network security guy.  The one who has Microsoft tattooed to the insides of his eyelids.
