New Unadvertised ‘Fido20th’ Promo Plan: $60 BYOD with 4GB Data [u]

Fido is celebrating its 20th anniversary and a new unadvertised promo plan is available if customers call in to customer service or start an online chat, and mentions “Fido20th”.

The promo plans are essentially 3GB plans with a bonus 1GB of data, making for 4GB total, to go with unlimited nationwide talk and text. Here’s are the two options you can get by mentioning “Fido20th” to customer care on the phone or in chat:

  • $60 BYOD: 4GB data
  • $65 Pulse: 4GB data, includes Fido Roam and Spotify Premium for 6 months

Also, both plans include 1000 international long distance minutes to select countries.

Last month, Fido offered free 1GB data to eligible customers as part of its 20th anniversary celebration.

If you’re looking for a better deal, check out Public Mobile’s $38/4GB plan (runs on the TELUS LTE network), only available until November 20th.

We switched from Fido and so far it’s been pretty good on our iPhone 7 Plus. We went with a one-time $15 add-on for 400 international minutes (they rollover and never expire) to cover the rare time we make Canada-wide calls.

Click here to read our tutorial on how to switch over to Public Mobile with your iPhone.

Update: Users are hearing this plan expired on November 7, 2016.

    Hey Gary,

What about getting Visual Voicemail on Public Mobile? Possible or no?

That $15 add-on for 400 minutes sounds awesome. That and Visual VM are the only features I need to make the switch.

Hi. I just tried this. It is a 3GB plan with an additional 500mb for 2 months. They added 1000 minutes of International calling. You must text GIFT to 2020 for the extra 500mb.

I’ve just talked with Fido customer service. There is no “$60 BYOD: 4GB data” plan. And the Fido20th is just extra data for two months, which ended back in October 24

Just checked with Fido, this plan does not exist.

  • No Visual Voicemail with Public Mobile, sadly. But I don’t miss it, because I only get one voicemail every 1-2 months anyways…most people who call and I don’t answer, will follow up with an email or text.

Also, there’s no Wi-Fi Calling or VoLTE yet. But in my day-to-day use, I haven’t really missed these features yet. Bottom line is we’re saving at least $50/month by making this switch and we gain 2GB of data per month.

This offer was available from the 3rd to the 7th. No longer available anymore. It was a friends and family sale (I am an employee) but most stores would readily offer it to anyone.

Went in last night and was told this plan expired on the 7th. Was also told (if you live in Ottawa), that Bell and Virgin will sell you a Quebec plan. Going to check out the 8GB/$58 Virgin plan tonight.
